It’s almost Christmas and Santa Claus will be coming to town soon. Santa Claus is notorious for landing on the roof and going down your chimney on Christmas Eve. What happens if Dear Old Saint Nick falls when he’s on your roof? Will you be responsible? Do you have insurance to protect you from a lawsuit should such a tragic event happen? What if Santa can’t work anymore? What if the children don’t receive their gifts? Will you be liable?
What to do if Santa falls off the roof?
- Call 911.
- Take plenty of photos.
- Make sure you get all your gifts out of the sleigh since you probably will be on the naughty list next year!!! Santa probably won’t forget that easily.
Why is Homeowners’ Insurance So Important?
Your homeowners insurance policy covers you in the event someone is injured while on your property. Of course, your protection is dependent on what coverage YOU CHOOSE when you obtained the policy….so make sure you know what you are buying. Insurance is a contract between you and the insurance company, so make sure you know what you are getting in exchange for your premium.
Having the cheapest coverage option is never the answer. It may save you money now but may ultimately cost you a lot more.
At Joseph M. Ghabour & Associates, we recommend a minimum of 500,000.00 in liability coverage. If you can afford more liability coverage, go for it. And if you are high net worth person, be sure to buy umbrella coverage. Click here to read more about liability coverage in homeowners insurance policies.
Unlike the movie Santa Claus, you can’t just put on Santa Claus’ suit and start delivering gifts. So you can also be liable for lost wages. And we all know how hard Santa works delivering gifts to the world’s 8 billion people. This is another reason to have appropriate insurance coverage.
So stay off the naughty list, and make sure you have enough insurance coverage in case Santa does fall off your roof…or slips on the cup of cold milk you left out for him, or gets food poisoning from your cookies, or trips on the tree lights…..OH MY! So many hazards and not enough time!
Call us today if you are Santa Claus and fell off the roof, or if you are a Santa Impersonator, have anything to do with Santa, drank spoiled Eggnog, suffered a Reindeer Bite, and/or if you have any other personal injury case you would like to discuss.
DISCLAIMER: Aside from the talk about liability insurance, the rest of this article is satire. No Santas or Reindeers were injured in the writing of this post.
