Toms River, NJ – A high-speed crash involving an unlicensed juvenile driver left two people dead and two others critically injured late Friday night, authorities confirmed.
The accident occurred at approximately 10:58 p.m. on March 7, 2025, at the intersection of Route 37 and Route 166 in Toms River. The juvenile driver, whose identity has not been released due to age, was behind the wheel of a white BMW traveling at extreme speeds before colliding with a Toyota Camry.
According to law enforcement, the BMW was first spotted by Toms River police officers speeding eastbound on the Thomas A. Mathis Bridge around 10:45 p.m. An attempted traffic stop was initiated, but the driver refused to pull over. To avoid endangering the public, officers decided to terminate the pursuit. Moments later, Seaside Heights police reported seeing the same vehicle traveling southbound on Route 35 at 118 mph—more than three times the posted speed limit of 35 mph. Police again opted against a pursuit due to the dangerous nature of the situation. A short time later, the BMW was seen heading westbound on Route 37 at high speed. Then, at 10:58 p.m., tragedy struck when the BMW collided with a Toyota Camry at a busy intersection.
The driver and front-seat passenger of the Camry were pronounced dead at the scene. They have been identified as 23-year-old Evan Fiore and his 21-year-old girlfriend, Kiley Armstrong. Two backseat passengers in the Camry, identified as Kiley’s twin sister, Krista Armstrong, and her boyfriend, 19-year-old Ryan Chapman, suffered severe injuries and were transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center, where they remain in critical condition.
Meanwhile, the juvenile driver of the BMW was uninjured. Two passengers in the BMW sustained minor injuries and were treated at a local hospital before being released.
The unlicensed juvenile driver was taken into custody at the scene and has since been charged with multiple offenses, including two counts of aggravated manslaughter, four counts of aggravated assault causing bodily injury while eluding police, two counts of death by auto, eluding law enforcement, and various motor vehicle violations. He was processed at Toms River police headquarters and is currently lodged at the Ocean County Juvenile Detention Center.
